Raken Spotlight With Matt Jackman of Ehrhart Griffin
By Nathan | Posted on March 30th, 2018
In this Raken Spotlight we talk with Matt Jackman of Ehrhart Griffin & Associates branch in Omaha, Nebraska about the work he's doing and what he likes to do when he's not building something amazing.
What are some of the most memorable projects you’ve worked on?
The most memorable project I had was my first project with EGA [Ehrhart Griffin & Associates]. It was a sanitary/storm separation project with the outfall directly into the Missouri River. We did the project over the winter and it was frigid that year, working right next to the river. I learned a ton on that first project, and it was special to me because I finally made it to Construction Management. Besides that – we do Civil work and so I get to drive down streets I worked on year after year….amazing what you see that nobody else does just because I was there from day one of the project!
What do you like most about working in the field?
Working outside and meeting new people on every job. Speaking face-to-face instead of over the phone allows completion of tasks in a timely manner. Every project allows me to network and add to my contact list.
How does technology help you do your job?
Technology simplifies my job and decreases the amount of time I need to spend working on reports or sitting at my desk. I can do 99% of my job from the field and that is a great advantage to have. Owners I work with love the Raken reports. Detailed, pictures and I can literally complete my work, speak to the owner and email him the report before he makes it back to his office. Communication is key and timely communication is the true answer.
What are your interests outside of work?
Golf, poker and Nebraska football! I would golf daily if I could! With the time saved with doing Raken reports from the field I may be able to squeeze in a few more rounds!
Everyone at Raken could not be more proud of the amazing work that Matt and his team at Ehrhart Griffin & Associates have done, and we can't wait to see what they come up with next!
