How Maurice Agrillo Uses Raken to Improve Documentation and Visibility

The problem: Manual documentation

Silicon Valley is home to some of the nation’s most expensive real estate. For the Maurice Agrillo company, pen and paper reports—and manually inputting data—made projects all the more challenging.

The solution: Streamlined digital reports

With Raken’s general contractor software, Maurice Agrillo’s crews can easily send field data to the office. Real-time visibility (and better communication) helps everyone improve projects as they’re progressing.

“Raken has streamlined the administration process of our company.”

An established business meets modern workflows

Construction is all about productivity. When you have accurate insights, it’s easier to see if your projects are on the right track. That’s why getting those updates from the field to the office in a timely manner is key.

With 30 years in the industry, Maurice Agrillo is seen as San Jose’s premier home remodeler. But their reporting process hasn’t always been smooth sailing. In fact, pen and paper reports took a lot of time out of people’s days—sometimes keeping them at work as late as 9:00 PM.

“For 24 years, I wrote a weekly journal of what my crew and I were doing, with a description, all by hand,” says David Ingram, supervisor and reports administrator at Maurice Agrillo. “At the end of the week, I’d send that to stakeholders. I’d get home and be writing stuff out, minimum an hour, usually two, sometimes three. I’d also transfer accounting and time card info.”

Now with Raken’s easy data capture and photo documentaiton tools, David saves hours on reporting.

“I don’t have to spend more than ten minutes at my laptop looking at the pictures in Raken to know what’s happening onsite. It’s not the multiple hours I was doing before.”

Improving visibility when working apart

After trying multiple programs, Maurice Agrillo chose Raken for their reporting needs. Since crews can upload photos and send reports from the mobile app, everyone is always on the same page—even when they’re across the country from each other.

“Raken has everything I wanted in a daily reporting app. I can send reports to my partner quickly,” Ingram says. “Sometimes, when we’re working across the country, he’ll see a photo in Raken from the site that day and call to ask about what he’s seeing.”

“Raken has streamlined our communication, because he sees what I see every day.”

Raken helps Maurice Agrillo store their field data in one place, too. Having accurate historical data, like time cards, just a few taps away helps them back up their work and makes the end of the workday come sooner.
