A good example of API use is the way different ride or food delivery apps use map integrations to show your driver’s route or where your food is. By allowing an existing third-party program to communicate with their application, DoorDash doesn’t have to create their own map system.

How one customer uses Raken’s public API
All Surface Roofing & Waterproofing, Inc has made good use of Raken’s public API, creating several of their own programs to custom fit Raken’s time tracking tools for streamlined payroll.
Austin Kidwell, Director of Systems Integrations, is particularly tech-savvy. He specifically sought out construction software companies with public-facing API, and Raken fit the bill.
He instantly got to work building a tool for payroll that would work seamlessly with Raken’s time tracking tools.
Prior to using Raken, All Surface Roofing had to use Adobe Photoshop to take their daily reports and manually mix them in with their payroll reports. But with Raken’s Public API, he’s able to automate the process and save time. To do this, he created a system where he could just click a button, select a date range, and then pull data from all relevant daily reports into a file. Then the payroll team could compile it along with all the payroll data and email it out.
He also has an automatic program that runs on his desktop computer in the office. It pulls hours from the day before directly from Raken into a spreadsheet, uploads it, and updates their schedule.
